Jon Katz best known as the author of A Dog Year, The Dogs of Bedlam Farm, A Good Dog and Dog Days, to name a few, is also a talented photographer. He has a natural ability for continuing his story through the lens of a camera.

Jon lives in Washington County, NY on Bedlam Farm with his 2 Border Collies, Rose the manageress of Bedlam, Izzy Bedlam’s beautiful spirit, and Lenore, a young black lab who steals everyone’s heart. You will also find numerous sheep  on the farm that keep Rose busy, 4 donkeys, the bovine pack, Elvis, Harold and Luna, 3 jeering goats, Mother the cat, Winston the rooster and his hens he watches over. 

Photography is about messages, at least for me. Signals to the world, signals from the world. I see things in a different way, things I never saw before in ways I never saw before. The duty of an artist is to to take the shapes and colors of the world and give them meaning and to see and find beauty in small and common things. Photography is my signal to the world that I am working to be fulfilled and, as a dear friend told me recently, beauty and meaning is everywhere. It's not what the camera sees, it's what you see. ~Jon Katz
